Why Jayson Tatum passed on Tom Brady's FaceTime call after Olympics originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
Green recently explained how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback FaceTimed him to congratulate Team USA on its gold medal, and how Green's teammates eagerly crowded around him to get some phone time with the GOAT.
"Draymond was in the back, so I was like 10 rows ahead of him," Tatum explained on a new episode of the "Knuckleheads" podcast with former NBA players Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. "And I remember Book (Devin Booker) and Zach (LaVine) and all them say 'what's up' to (Brady).
"I thought about it, but I might have been on the phone or something. So I was like, 'Aight, I'll text him later.'"This content is not available due to your privacy preferences.Update your settings here to see it.
That's a pretty great sign that Tatum has reached star status.
Tatum had the benefit of playing in the same region as Brady for three years from 2017 to 2019 before the QB left the New England Patriots for the Bucs in March 2020. Apparently he developed a relationship with the living legend, too: Tatum said he and Brady "talk from time to time."
Not many 23-year-olds can say they're on texting level with the greatest quarterback of all time, and their connection is a testament to how quickly Tatum rose to prominence after arriving in Boston in 2017.
